What to wear with linen jacket?
For dressier occasions, a light linen jacket looks great over a raw silk or linen slip, or a pair of tailored pants. If your look is more casual, denim or cotton shorts pair well with a relaxed-fit linen jacket. Light denim jeans and a white T-shirtwith a linen jacket for women is the perfect off-duty uniform.
Can you wash a linen jacket?
A light linen jacket can be machine washed but always double-check the garment’s washing instructions before putting it in the machine – some items will need to be hand washed or dry cleaned. Separate your linen clothing from other fabrics and separate by colours. Set your machine to a cold to lukewarm, gentle cycle and don’t overfill the drum. Use a gentle, high-quality detergent and never use bleach. Hang your jacket on a coat hanger as soon as the cycle has finished and dry it on the line.
How to get creases out of a linen jacket?
Avoid major creases in your linen jacket in the first place by air drying on a hanger, but if it’s too late and the creasing has already occurred, there are a few tricks to smooth them out.
Spritz your jacket generously with water and use a garment steamer or a flat iron on the highest setting to get the creases out. If you don’t have a steamer or iron, you can toss the jacket into the dryer with a small, damp cloth for five minutes. The dryer will turn the moisture on the cloth into steam, which will help soften the creases.
And, of course, accept that you’ll never have totally wrinkle-free linen – the relaxed, crumpled look is part of its appeal.
